North Shore Children’s Museum’s Top 5 Holiday Gift Ideas for 2023

November 29, 2023

Holiday shopping for the kids in your life can be difficult! We here at North Shore Children’s Museum have compiled our top 5 holiday gift ideas for 2023.

Creative Moments Together

Craft supplies make wonderful presents, especially when they come with the added bonus of time spent creating together. There are a plethora of choices when it comes to difficulty level, medium, and theme – something for every kiddo’s unique interests. There is power in “loose parts” rather than prescriptive kits. Art supplies are never a bad idea – they allow kids to use their imaginations to create something truly unique. We highly recommend tempura paint sticks, which have all the fun of painting without the spills.

Something “Consumable”

Give parents the gift of not needing to find space to store your present by making it “consumable.” We think these bath bombs at 2 Donkey’s Toy Shop are great, they make bathtimes exciting, and get fully used by the end of the evening. Temporary tattoos, hair chalk, and stick on earrings are often a big hit, too!

Experiences

It can be difficult to get out of the house and explore, especially in the winter. Give the gift of indoor play this year with a North Shore Children’s Museum gift card. BONUS: November 24 through November 27th for each gift card of $20 or more purchased, we will send you one bonus admission. Want to gift a membership for unlimited visits through December 2024? Purchase a gift certificate for that amount and your recipient can purchase one in their name. That is a gift that will keep them thinking of you (and thanking you!) all year long! Gift certificates can be purchased online here, or in person during our operating hours.

Colorful Manipulatives

Children and their creativity thrive with open-ended toys, like blocks, magnet tiles, and more. There are tons of amazing “manipulatives” that range from completely open ended to strengthening specific skills through play. If a child in your life is learning letters, numbers, fractions, and/or colors, there are so many playful options both online and in stores to choose from.

Games and Puzzles

We love games – board games, card games, even educational computer/iPad games! Many companies are re-publishing classic games like Sorry!, Guess Who, Candy Land, Twister Jr., Hungry Hungry Hippos, Elefun, and many more. There are tons of new games we love as well. Spot it, Exploding Kittens, Tetra Tower, and Maze Builders are a few that we really like. Puzzles and yard games are always a big hit too.

Whatever you choose to gift, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Looking for holiday activities for your kids? Check out our line-up of events here.
